In her book - part Erma Bombeck and part Ann Landers - Ness shares her experiences as well as those of others who have inspired her. . . It takes a down-to-earth approach to issues most everyone faces, such as how to persuade aging parents to give up their independence. Fort Worth Star-Telegram Your life experiences and energizing eight-steps to successful aging made for an entertaining and at times humorous read. After fifty-three years of collecting treasures, it's time to down size. All your ideas were great! Eleanor M.
Reading Umbrella was like leafing through an album with photos of your life and snapshots of your family. Bits of historical events, important medical insights, and many helpful ideas for aging, (greatly and wisely), were tucked in, about, and around. All readers will benefit from your helpful suggestions, many I hadn't thought of before. We will be implementing some of these soon. Bonnie R.,

I've read through the book once and now I am rereading certain sections. I found Don't Forget Your Umbrella very enlightening and educational. It's a must read for everyone interested in being informed about events and life style changes that enhance life's journey. Carol K.
Umbrella is good reading with lots of good messages. You have shown great courage, initiative, intelligence, humor and compassion in your life and in your book. It's a book I'll read again and again and recommend to friends. I especially like your idea of leaving a letter for your family in case you become mentally incapacitated. I plan to use some of your words in the letter to my family. Jimanne D.
Your book is great!
Michael D. retired physician This book was one of my most memorable Christmas gifts ever. At a difficult time in my own life I found it both inspirational and educational and could readily relate to many sections. The wealth of memory-enhancing and brain-exercising tips were especially appreciated. It's a book I'm proud to have my name associated with. Carlene N. (no relation to author)
I 'm only on Chapter 3 and I can't wait to finish. I've laughed and cried and learned so much. Marian B.
